That afternoon, the golden sunlight poured down like honey onto the deserted road.
I was behind the wheel, my mind wandering to the music on the radio.
But a cruel sight ahead made me stop.
In the middle of the long, winding road…
A red fox was struggling desperately.
But instead of its usual sharp, cunning ears, it had a rigid plastic container stuck tightly around its neck, with no escape.
The poor creature was completely disoriented.
It bumped into speeding cars like a blind man.
Death was only a few fleeting seconds away.
I couldn’t ignore such a fragile life…
I decided to pull over and get out.
But the moment it saw a human figure, its wild instincts kicked in.
Despite carrying the heavy jar, the fox used its last ounce of strength to dash into the field.
I immediately chased after it.
The dry grass rustled underfoot, and my breathing became increasingly labored.
At that moment, only one thought occupied my mind:
I had to save it before it succumbed to lack of oxygen in this scorching sun.
Finally, after a chase, the mother fox collapsed onto the burnt grass.
Her chest heaved with pain, her eyes glazed over with exhaustion.
Just as I approached and was about to touch the jar…
A menacing growl came from behind the bushes.
“Grrr… growl…”
A chill ran down my spine, and I froze instantly.
From the tall grass, two tiny fox cubs darted out, baring their teeth to protect their mother.
Their eyes were filled with terror, yet strangely fierce.
I took a step back, slowly extending my hand.
“Don’t be afraid, I’ve come to help your mother…” I whispered in the softest voice possible.
Time seemed to stand still for a few seconds.
Seemingly sensing the warmth and compassion from the stranger…
The two little foxes gradually calmed down, curiously approaching to sniff my hand.

Once trust had been established between human and animal…
Using all my strength, I carefully removed the cursed bottle from the mother fox’s head.
“Plop!”
The plastic bottle finally came off.
The mother fox took a deep breath, her drowsy eyes slowly becoming alert again.
After a brief reunion, the fox family quickly disappeared into the deep blue horizon.
I stood there, smiling, and prepared to return to the car.
I thought to myself, “That’s good, a happy ending.”
But life is sometimes more miraculous than the movies.
Just as I was about to open the car door, a bright red figure appeared in the distance.
The mother fox was returning!
It ran straight towards me, holding something glittering in its mouth.
It stopped right in front of my shoes.
Gently placing the object on the ground, it stepped back a few paces.
It looked at me for a long time, its eyes seemingly expressing its deepest gratitude…
Before truly disappearing into the wilderness.
I bent down to pick it up.
It was a beautiful piece of turquoise glass.
It was sharp, clear, and sparkling like a natural diamond.
In the wild, this was probably the most precious thing it had ever found.
The gift was not simply a material object.

Rather, it is a testament to a grateful soul, a sacred connection between humanity and all living things.
